The Hundred Islands National Park of Alaminos City is one of the most popular tourist spots in the Philippines. A magnificent string of Islands, also known as "Kapulo-puloan" or "Taytay-Bakes," these little Islands are one of the gorgeous natural geological formations in the Philippines.
There are 124 islands here, but one gets submerged in water during high tide thus giving credence to former Filipina beauty queen Ms. Charlene Gonzales immortalized words "High tide or low tide?" during her question-and-answer portion on "How many islands are there in the Philippines?" in 1994 Miss Universe Pageant.
The islands are believed to be about two million years old. During low tide, the islands lower part is exposed to the ocean waves, and the eroding action has eaten away some of these limestones below, forming them into a weird "mushroom-shaped" appearance. It composed of 124 islets in all; "Hundred Islands" is, in fact, a misnomer. Of the 124 islands, only a few have been developed for tourists to maintain the pristine, natural condition of the park.
In the distance, outlines of the renowned fragmented islet are slowly taking into shape.
Ebbtide exposes the wearing down of the bases, revealing the mushroom shape figure surrounded by an emerald body of water disclosing the scenery of gorgeous landscape of beautiful white-sand shores, jungle-covered surroundings, and rock formations. There are also hidden lagoons, caves, and hiking trails within the islands.
Despite the massive development on the island, it boasts a wide range of outdoor activities like cliff diving, snorkeling, kayaking, jet-skiing, parasailing and zip line from one island to another. Swimming, island-hopping, and diving are the most popular activities here.
I highly recommended this place to those who love adventure! It's really beyond expectation and a perfect getaway from the busy city! The tour to the Hundred Islands National Park may be one of the memorable experiences you will ever have. You can spend a whole day just marveling about these little wonders of nature. A truly fantastic display of exceptional nature! It is an all in one adventure in one place! So much fun and you will enjoy every moment of it.

A hundred more reasons to love the Philippines and I'm sure, I would definitely go back again one day, practically because Mother Nature like these never ceases to amaze a nature lover like me.

As the years go by, more islands are starting to be developed, the place has really changed a lot after all these years. The Lucap Wharf is clean and transformed. They are more organized, with a clear official price list, a better system for booking, and Banca rentals are regulated. Salute to Tourism officers for a job well done.
You can book a boat for an island-hopping tour or overnight stay in one of the islands.
